Then he started his own home based business in 1999. After 13 yrs at home we expanded & moved to our current location. Taking on 4 mechanics and a mercury dealership.

You will find Dean wherever he is needed during the day. He may be helping the boys, busy at his desk doing estimates, sourcing parts, troubleshooting jobs, finding answers to the never ending supply of questions. Dean is always happy to answer questions and give his well acquired advice.

Karen Hankins

Office manager. Raised in the Cowichan Valley.

You will find me most days in the office answering phones, booking in customers, ordering parts or god knows what. But don’t ask me mechanical questions, at that point I will be more than happy to get one of our qualified mechanics to get all your questions answered and your concerns addressed. Then I will be happy to get your repairs booked in.

Dean and I have known each other since we were children and have been together going on 16 years, he never hesitates to teach me more about the business if he could he would have a wrench in my hand most days.

I think we have a great team here and welcome you to come in and get to know us.

Terence McMahon

Shop Foreman. Raised in the Cowichan Valley.

Hi, my name is Terence and I have always had an interest in mechanics since I was a kid. My family has always maintained their own Vehicles, which is where my learning and tinkering started.

I began my trade in 2011 attending VIU. I also have experience in construction and even though Marine Mechanics is my career, I still enjoy getting out and seeing what I can build. In my free time, I keep myself busy doing online courses, working towards getting my mercury certification. Also, taking the time to talk to our customers, answering questions and getting to know you all makes me enjoy my job even more.

Chase Manhas

Born and raised in the Cowichan Valley.

Hi, my name is Chase. Before my interests in the marine industry I was fixing your wheels as an automotive mechanic in Cobble hill. Being born as a mechanics son I’ve learned to pull wrenches at a very young age and always continued to learn more over the years. I might not be under the hood of a car as much anymore, but more likely upside down in a boat, or stretching my arms trying to start a kicker. When i’m not at work, you can find me taking online courses working towards my mercury certification or i’m spending time with family members and working on my many projects.

Richard Luxon

Born and raised in Yellowknife.

Hi, my name is Richard. I started my career fixing everything from weed wackers to forklifts in 2006. As soon as I started, I knew I was hooked. In 2008 I moved to another company and was working towards my Outdoor Power Equipment Certification specializing in the BRP line up.

After moving to the beautiful Cowichan Valley, I decided to change Marine Maintenance.

Usually on my time off you will see me with my family or SCUBA diving in the area. I enjoy talking with people about almost anything so if you see me around, I’m more than willing to chat.

Lynda Jones

Book Keeper / Office Assistant.

I was born in Port Alberni and our family moved from there to Nitnat logging camp and from there we graduated to Lake Cowichan. In my mid-20s I moved to Yellowknife to find work. I lived there for about 15 years, and during that time I met my husband and we started a family. Once my daughter was 6 we decided to move back to Lake Cowichan. Fast forward to the current year and my daughter is graduating!!! Lots of change is happening, but I keep busy with my home Spa (Drift Away Day Spa), working with doTerra Essential Oils and of course here at Dean’s Marine.

So a lot has happened since Dean and Karen hired me temporarily to cover Nicholle’s mat-leave just a little over a year ago. Dean’s Marine offered me a permanent part-time bookkeeping position, which I absolutely accepted!!! My beautiful daughter graduated, and was accepted into college for the BA Nursing Program in Yellowknife, we’ve sold our house, downsized, and I have put my Spa business on the back burner for the moment.  I will continue with my DoTerra Essential Oil business, which is a big part of who I am. It’s been a whirlwind year and I look forward to many more years with the Dean’s Marine Family and all of our amazing customers!!!

Christopher Lewis

Service Writer / Parts Person

I grew up on a dairy farm in Ontario where I raced motocross and did small engine repair. I have always enjoyed boating. I moved to BC in the late 90’s and learned how to sail. I have been a live-aboard for about 15 years now and have sailed the pacific coast extensively. I love calling BC my home. Come in or give me a call if there is anything I can help you with.

Harley just had his 10th Birthday!

He will happily great everyone with his very grumbly disposition (which he comes by honestly) but if you ignore him he really is harmless.

If you have a cookie in your pocket you will be friends for sure. (Today anyways)
